Each year Dutch institutions teaching architecture, urban design and landscape architecture select their best final-year projects. The crop is unfailingly rich and varied and reflects the ambition of a new generation of designers ready to take on any imaginable design task that comes their way. Archiprix 2006 introduces the newest wave of design talent, reviewing a total of 23 projects including the eventual prize winners, through a combination of texts, plans, models and the jury report.

Op Art fabrics, plastic chairs, inflatable houses, mini skirts, paper furniture, pop glass and psychedelic posters were all part of the design phenomenon. When Mary Quant launched 'the look' with her range of ready-to-wear fashions in the early 1960s, its style, like the Habitat interior look launched shortly afterwards, was immediately appropriated by the trendy younger generation.
