New Retail
Dostępność: na zamówienie In the decades since the advent of the shopping mall, shopping has become synonymous with entertainment and the retail store a key player in establishing brand identity. In a growing trend, high-profile architects are designing provocative storefronts and interiors that create an aura of exclusivity to draw in customers and attract media attention. New Retail examines this phenomenon with an overview of twenty-four of the most innovative retail spaces built around the world in recent years, designed by high-profile international architects as well as smaller cutting-edge firms.
HyperArchitecture: Spaces...
In an age dominated by the Internet and electronic media it is becoming increasingly clear that our perception of space is also undergoing a profound transformation. The author takes the reader on a fascinating journey, revealing who has played a part in this transformation.

Alvar Aalto
Internationally renowned as one of the major achievements of modern architecture, the work of Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) was deeply rooted in the culture and the landscape of his native Finland.
HOMES ON DISTINCTIVE LAND
The land on which the following residences are built is the connecting thread of this volume. The plots, be it their topography or geological composition, determine the design of the houses and are a challenge for architects. The allotments' different heights and the geological characteristics define the organization and planning of the structures. Climatic elements such as wind, sun and rain determine the inclusion of energy-saving systems like a tank for rainwater or making use of the breezes to cool down the houses. The surroundings, mainly beautiful landscapes and ecological diversity, delimit the presence of houses, thus we can find some housing integrated into the scenery and other that provokes a clear visual contrast between nature and human creation.

Detail Practice - Glass in...
Dostępność: na zamówienie "Glass in Building" opens up a whole range of fascinating design possibilities for the planning architect. Glass has long served as a translucent room closing element, but its range of possible uses is actually much wider. It not only offers protection against the external world, for example, noise or fire; despite its apparent fragility, it can even take on load-bearing functions in supporting structures.

Architecture Now! Eat Shop...
Hot Spots Some of the most spectacular architectural designs of the moment have to do with our most basic needs: eating, drinking, and shopping. Restaurants, bars, and boutiques are the substance of this new book that puts an emphasis—like all volumes of the Architecture Now!-series—on the very latest and best creations. This is where you will find the likes of David Chipperfield and Peter Marino in the same book, where Jean Nouvel and BIG star Bjarke Ingels meet. But it is also the place to discover new talents like the designer of London’s Late Night Chameleon Café, Gary Card, to see how the director David Lynch imagined the subterranean Paris nightclub Silencio, or what designer Tom Dixon conjured up for the Tazmania Ballroom in Hong Kong.
ARCHITECTURE NOW! SHOPPING
Let's talk shop! The latest volume in the world's most successful architecture series Shops are the one place where the stars of the world of architecture, from David Adjaye to Rem Koolhaas and Zaha Hadid encounter the people who make the world of design turn, from Jurgen Bey to Tom Dixon, Ingo Maurer, or Philippe Starck. This book is full of the most recent retail spaces in the world, ranging from astonishing shopping centers by Daniel Libeskind or the young Swiss firm HHF to interactive store windows or a tiny jewel-like chocolate store in the heart of Paris.
