Seria DETAIL Practice - Dry...
Dostępność: na zamówienie Detail-Practice: Dry Construction provides an overview of the most widely used dry construction systems, organized according to the building components wall, ceiling, and floor and their applications. The volume is conceived as a practical manual for design and planning. Dry construction in interior design employs "dry construction systems" in place of moisture-retaining materials such as concrete and plaster.
Sendai Mediatheque
Dostępność: na zamówienie Images of the Mediatheque have widely circulated in architectural media since 1995, when Toyo Ito's competition project revealed a new structural prototype (or archi-type) that expressed the will to incorporate the notions of mobility and fluidity into space and structure. Second in the series of Verb monographs, this book presents the process of design and construction of Ito's prototype during the six years between the building's initial design through to its completion in 2001. The Mediatheque aspires to integrate real and virtual worlds - or, in Ito's words, “the primitive body of natural flow and the virtual body of electronic flow”.

GLASSHOUSE
When John Ruskin attempted to disparage the Crystal Palace by referring to it as ‘a great cucumber frame’, he hit upon a truism. The Crystal Palace outdid its Victorian glasshouse contemporaries in public gardens around the world and represented the zenith of a building type that had developed spectacularly from humble horticultural roots. The Glasshouse traces the evolution of glass enclosures from the mid-seventeenth century when the desire to nurture exotic plants in a foreign and often hostile climate led to the development of the glasshouse and ingenious mechanical servicing systems, capable of creating its own artificial microclimate.

DURABILITY AND REPAIR OF...
Wstęp (Preface) : Due to the different durability of building structures, the 21st century has become a century of repair work and rehabilitation for construction. Along with the decreasing amount of area zoned for construction, the increase of such activities in inevitable. The world economic crisis continues to hold back new investments and, therefore, also contributes to this situation. Naturally aging building complexes and, unfortunately, more and more frequently new buildings as well, contain design or construction errors. It is best if the mistakes are noticed during the completion of objects, worse if they don't become noticeable until they are under exploitation.

Detail Practice - Glass in...
Dostępność: na zamówienie "Glass in Building" opens up a whole range of fascinating design possibilities for the planning architect. Glass has long served as a translucent room closing element, but its range of possible uses is actually much wider. It not only offers protection against the external world, for example, noise or fire; despite its apparent fragility, it can even take on load-bearing functions in supporting structures.
