Architecture Now! 8
Today's starchitects Currents in architecture around the world Architecture Now! 8 reviews new and exciting projects completed and under construction in the whole world. No style, no building type is ignored, making this volume a true compendium of what anybody interested in buildings today needs to know. From well-known figures such as Zaha Hadid, Ryue Nishizawa of SANAA fame and Thom Mayne of Morphosis, to rising stars like Joshua Prince-Ramus (REX) and Sou Fujimoto and on to less-known architects who are the “stars” of tomorrow, like the Indians of Studio Mumbai, the Norwegian Todd Saunders, the Burkinabe Diébédo Francis Kéré, and the Colombian Giancarlo Mazzanti, or the Chinese architect Li Xiaodong, they are all here and many more as well.
ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS:...
Balconies are an architectural accent of a special kind. Forced to looking up from below while passing by on the street the balcony serves as an eye-catcher. However, regarded down from the perspective of the balcony it is providing a refuge. It shields off the chaos of city life, but also offers an urban panorama from within. Thus, balconies are an elegant or elementary, representative or simple coming together of urbaneness and closeness to nature. Captivating detailed photographs portray a wide spectrum of forms and styles on a journey through Europe’s most fascinating cities.
Bathrooms
Dostępność: na zamówienie Bathrooms are a focus feature in the 21st century home, and where space allows there is usually more than one. The most desirable configuration is an en suite shower room - a streamlined space for a quick and efficient cleanse and preparation in the morning, and in addition a separate, larger and more indulgent room where there is a bath and possibly a steam enclosure and enough space to pamper, relax and unwind. As a valuable resource book, "Bathrooms" proves that it is no longer just the bath versus shower option that needs to be considered.
Norman Foster Works 6
Winner of the Pritzker Prize and the Praemium Imperiale, Norman Foster is one of the most innovative and forwardthinking architects at work today. This volume features more than 1,000 plans, sketches, and photographs of some of Foster's most renowned projects, including London's new Wembley Stadium, Germany's Dresden Station, and Beijing's new international airport. These and other important structures, along with lighting systems, furniture collections, and memorials, reveal the enormous range of Foster + Partners' work. In addition to offering insights into individual projects, this volume contextualizes Foster's work, identifying themes and connections, discussing influences and inspirations, and invoking a host of historical, cultural, and architectural references.
STAGING SPACE
This book offers new solutions for event architecture, scenography, media installations, interiors, and stage design. Thanks to globalization and digitalization more and more aspects of our business lives and leisure time are taking place on the internet. Consequently, there is more pressure to create the proper setting when we actually do come together. The spaces where we come into face-to-face contact with our target audiences have to be precisely arranged in order to make an impact or to communicate information effectively on an emotional level.
STABLES
From the private to the historic to the state-of-the-art, a lavish tour of some of the most notable stables in the country. A celebration of horses and their "lodgings," this exquisite book covers horse country across the United States—from the East Coast to the Bluegrass, the prairie and mountain ranches, and to the Pacific Coast—and traces the origins of twenty-five stunning stables, from their vernacular beginnings in the early nineteenth century to the contemporary designs of today.
Frank Lloyd Wright: The...
Frank Lloyd Wright's wife, Olgivanna, is famously quoted as saying that "My husband seemed to thrive on hardships." From the years 1920 to 1932 Wright's fortunes were at a low ebb; he was plagued by financial, personal, and professional setbacks, but saw the time as one of challenges instead of one of defeat. Unable to find patrons, his imagination led to visionary, often splendid, architectural conceptions that laid the groundwork for the revolutionary architecture he would build in the decades to follow. During this period he designed almost fifty projects, of which only a few were realized, but those few are seen today as among his most important creations.

LIVING TRADITIONS
Classic style and impeccable attention to detail are hallmarks of the work of interior designer Matthew Patrick Smyth. His comfortable, timeless rooms are tailored to fit his clients’ personalities and lifestyles, whether they are dynamic young couples with children or cultured art collectors. Smyth masterfully blends contemporary pieces with antiques to endow each space with a sense of solidity and history while maintaining a completely fresh, modern sensibility. Smyth credits his mentor David Easton for teaching him how to see the intrinsic value of any given piece and to successfully mix furnishings with similar lines, materials, and forms even when they are products of different centuries.
