IN DETAIL: WORK ENVIROIMENTS
The requirements confronting our workplaces have recently undergone a dramatic transformation. Constantly shifting workspace populations and varying uses of workspace call for flexible spatial structures, and so do new professions and innovative working methods. The planning of workspaces is influenced by the digitalization of our storage media as well as by new materials and building technologies.
Material Revolution
Since it is now clear that in the future many raw materials will only be available to us in limited quantities, scientists have for some time been conducting intensive research into possible alternatives. Sustainability is the order of the day and the magic word for a better future in politics and industry. Moreover, environmental consciousness and a penchant for thinking in terms of material cycles have caught on with consumers : the use of environmentally compatible materials and production methods is desired, even taken for granted by the client.
NEW MATHEMATICS OF...
From chaos and complexity theory to topology, from optimization to datascapes: the design and construction of complex, sublime buildings that will change the way we perceive major structures. Ever since building began, architecture has relied on mathematics to achieve visual harmony, structural integrity, and logical construction. For most of the history of building, architects have applied the principles of Euclidean geometry, the description of points, lines, and volumes according to the three axes of space.
Constructing Architecture
Dostępność: na zamówienie This internationally prizewinning volume now appears in its second, revised and expanded edition. Since the first edition was published in 2005, it has been adopted as a textbook at many universities. Organized into chapters on "Raw Materials/Building Materials (Modules)," "Building Components (Elements)," "Building Methods (Structures)," and "Buildings (Examples)," the book now includes a new section on translucent materials and an article on the use of glass. The chapter on "Building Elements" now includes a discussion of facades, and the chapter on "Structures" has been expanded to cover "Principles of Space Creation."
Micro Architecture
Dostępność: na zamówienie Architect and professor of architecture Richard Horden, a former partner of Norman Foster, is the pioneer of small-scale structures constructed with the most advanced materials and techniques available. Fusing high-tech engineering with industrial-design methods, he and his research students in Munich have created an innovative range of revolutionary buildings in a broad variety of settings. From the Ski Haus (delivered to the Alps by helicopter and used by mountaineering and rescue teams) and Antarctic living modules to the Micro Compact home, a fully self-contained pre-fab home that fits into a 2.65m2 cube, these structures are designed for their adaptability to our changing planet, lifestyles and basic human needs.

DETAIL PRACTICE: ACOUSTICS...
Dostępność:na zamowienie Acoustics and protection against noise do not perhaps number among the primary parameters that normally influence the design of a building. Nevertheless, at the very latest when the lecturer in the seminar room cannot be heard, when the noise level in an open-plan office reaches unbearable levels, or when a neighbor’s noise deprives you of sleep, it becomes clear just how essential acoustic can be to everyday well-being. it is not just concert halls or the amphitheaters of antiquity that call for acoustic quality; rather, every building, indeed every room, has an acoustic dimension that changes according to the nature of its particular requirements
