Spis obejmuje rysunki architektoniczne zachowane do dziś w archiwum petersburskim, w zespole akt Komitetu Techniczno-Budowlanego MSW, zgromadzone w latach 1868-1914. Rysunki dołączane były do akt przesyłanych do Petersburga w celu uzyskania pozwoleń na budowę budynków użyteczności publicznej i sakralnych. W zbiorze odnoszącym się do miejscowości dawnego Królestwa Polskiego zachowała się jedynie niewielka część dawnego zasobu, obejmująca 356 jednostek.
