Winner of the Pritzker Prize and the Praemium Imperiale, Norman Foster is one of the most innovative and forward-thinking architects at work today. Warszawa przed 1939 r. była światową stolicą języka jidysz. Dzielnica żydowska zajmowała blisko jedną piątą miasta, rozciągając się od okolic Prostej, Zielnej, Pańskiej po Powązki. Popularnie nazywano ją dzielnicą północną lub Nalewkami. Żydzi mieszkali też w innych rejonach stolicy, stanowiąc większość ludności na wielu ulicach starej i nowej Pragi, Pelcowizny, Powiśla. Dziś na dzieje Żydów warszawskich patrzymy z perspektywy Holocaustu. Niemcy wymordowali ponad 300 tys. żydowskich obywateli Warszawy. Tworzoną przez kilka pokoleń spuściznę materialną rozgrabili lub zniszczyli.
