Skyscrapers
Like in the past the towers of the cathedrals, sky scrapers became the defining features of cityscapes with the advent of the 20th century. Since the turn of the millennium they are again among the most prestigious and coveted architectural challenges. The design freedom of contours and the plastic volume of blobs have long since superseded the purely orthogonal towers of the past. Most current projects are being implemented in the Arab-Asian realm, such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world's highest building.
RE-USE ARCHITECTURE
TUSCANY AN ART OF LIVING
Dostępność:na zamowienie This book is not just a collection of articles on authentic, tastefully restored houses. It is primarily the reflection of the passion of men and women who, one day, fell in love with a ruin in Tuscany: a pieve, or parish church, with origins in the fifth century, an eleventh-century fortified tower, an eighteenth-century casa colonica, a castle with Etruscan origins, an ancient farmhouse...
SEASIDE LIVING
LIVING WITH COLOUR
Dostępność:na zamowienie Choosing the most suitable colour palette is always one of the greatest challenges for any interior architect or designer. Paints, fabrics and wallpaper are an essential part of any interior and are inextricably bound up with it: the overall atmosphere is largely determined by the shades and nuances of colour that are used. This book presents projects by well-known architects and interior specialists, with colour as a uniting theme: from monochrome white and sandy shades to the more exuberant and daring colour combinations, from the monastic simplicity of neutral tones to lively and extroverted colour schemes.
FAMILY HOUSES
Everyone has a different opinion about the way the ideal family home should look. The different reports in this book reflect this variety of opinions: they range from historic country houses to recently built, distinctive homes for young families with lots of children. The same theme keeps emerging from these very different backgrounds: the sense of conviviality, the warm welcome, the informal, timeless character that each of these family homes exudes. These are houses that are not just there to be looked at – first and foremost, they are places where people really live: ideal environments for parents, children and guests.
