All-American ADS 1900 -1919
Dostępność: na zamówienie A far cry from the aggressive ads we`ve become used to, American print advertisements from the first two decades of the 20th century were almost shockingly pleasant. Intricately designed and beautifully illustrated, often in the art nouveau style popular at the time, four-color, full-page magazine advertisements were welcome respites from the bland, text-filled pages among which they appeared. Sales pitches were earnest and friendly; beer, for example, was billed as "The Evening Glass of Cheer" and toothpaste was described as "Delicious Ribbon Dental Cream"—perhaps not the catchiest slogans, but they were on to something.

Powerful, brilliant pictures-presented in just the right layout-can make us experience a whole range of emotions, from fear to attraction, anger to happiness. The Society of Publication Designers' (SPD) annual competition seeks the very best in editorial design work. Judged by a worldwide panel of top designers, the 43rd edition of Rockport's best-selling SPD series celebrates the journalists, editorial directors, photographers, and other talented individuals who brought events of the year 2007-with all its triumphs and disasters-to our doorsteps and computer screens.
1000 Chairs
Chairs displayed on their own as pure form An overview of the 20th century More than any other piece of furniture, the chair has been subjected to the wildest dreams of the designers. The particular curve of a backrest, or the twist of a leg, the angle of a seat or the color of the entire artifact all reflect the stylistic consciousness of each era. From Gerrit Rietveld and Alvar Aalto to Verner Panton to Eva Zeisel, from Art Nouveau to International Style, from Pop Art to Postmodernism, the phenomenon of the chair is so complex that it requires a reference work as comprehensive as this to do it full justice. They are all here: Thonet’s bentwood chairs and Hoffmann’s sitting-machines, Marcel Breuer’s Wassily chair and Ron Arad’s avant-garde armchairs.
