Urodziła się czwartego kwietnia 1926 roku w Żychlinie koło Łowicza. Po zakończeniu drugiej wojny światowej, w 1945 roku, zaczęła studia na Wydziale Architektury w Lublinie, a po roku mogła już studiować na Politechnice Warszawskiej. Trzy lata później wyjechała na stypendium do Paryża i tam kontynuowała edukację.
