Wraz z przyjęciem rozwiązań prawnych Unii Europejskiej z aktualnego katalogu norm została wycofana norma PN-79/D-01011: Drewno okrągłe - Wady. Nadal jest jednak ona powszechnie stosowana w Polsce. Sytuacja jest typowa dla krajów tworzących UE. Nie można bowiem uaktualniać normy krajowej, jeśli dotyczy tych samych zagadnień, które ujęte są w normach europejskich. Prawo jednak nie zabrania w umowach kupna-sprzedaży powoływania się na normy wycofane z katalogu norm. W przypadku wad drewna problem aktualizacji norm krajowych nie występuje. Wynika to z faktu, iż normy europejskie przypominają słownik cech drewna i pozostawiają dużą swobodę w ich pomiarze.
Pomocna będzie również technikom architektury krajobrazu w przygotowaniu się do egzaminu potwierdzającego kwalifikacje zawodowe.
