Książka pt. "Osiedle mieszkaniowe w strukturze miasta XX wieku" stanowi próbę syntezy praktycznie wszystkich znaczących dla historii rozwoju urbanistyki nowożytnej modeli teoretycznych i rozwiązań praktycznych aż do koncepcji budowy współczesnego miasta na kanwie wydzielonych zespołów mieszkaniowo-usługowych w powiązaniu z towarzyszącymi tym koncepcjom uwarunkowaniami ekonomicznymi, legislacyjnymi i politycznymi. Główny materiał badawczy stanowią szczecińskie osiedla mieszkaniowe zrealizowane w latach 1970 -1990.

The land on which the following residences are built is the connecting thread of this volume. The plots, be it their topography or geological composition, determine the design of the houses and are a challenge for architects. The allotments' different heights and the geological characteristics define the organization and planning of the structures. Climatic elements such as wind, sun and rain determine the inclusion of energy-saving systems like a tank for rainwater or making use of the breezes to cool down the houses. Wraz z przyjęciem rozwiązań prawnych Unii Europejskiej z aktualnego katalogu norm została wycofana norma PN-79/D-01011: Drewno okrągłe - Wady. Nadal jest jednak ona powszechnie stosowana w Polsce. Sytuacja jest typowa dla krajów tworzących UE. Nie można bowiem uaktualniać normy krajowej, jeśli dotyczy tych samych zagadnień, które ujęte są w normach europejskich. Prawo jednak nie zabrania w umowach kupna-sprzedaży powoływania się na normy wycofane z katalogu norm. W przypadku wad drewna problem aktualizacji norm krajowych nie występuje. Wynika to z faktu, iż normy europejskie przypominają słownik cech drewna i pozostawiają dużą swobodę w ich pomiarze.
