Jej celem jest zebranie materiału do rozmaitych obliczeń, z jakimi można się spotkać studiując optometrię. Jestem przekonany, że nie można dobrze zrozumieć zagadnień związanych z tworzeniem obrazu w oku ani też działania przyrządów optycznych i optycznych metod pomiarowych bez samodzielnego wykonania obliczeń, takich jak omawiane w tej książce.

Ze względu na bardzo duży materiał ilustracyjny, niezbędny do zrozumienia technologii wykonania pewnych konstrukcji, zakres tematyczny dotyczący elementów małej architektury został omówiony w dwóch kolejnych tomach.
