ELLSWORTH KELLY. THUMBING THROUGH THE FOLDER: A DIALOGUE ON ART AND ARCHITECTURE WITH HANS ULRICH OBRIST Ellsworth Kelly, now more than eighty-five years old, reminisces with great enthusiasm and not a hint of nostalgia on his life, his work and encounters and experiences with teachers and colleagues.
Ellsworth Kelly, now more than eighty-five years old, reminisces with great enthusiasm and not a hint of nostalgia on his life, his work and encounters and experiences with teachers and colleagues. These include Max Beckmann, Brancusi, Léger and Vantongerloo, whom he visited weekly while in Paris in order to watch him paint. Central to the book is a series of painted-over and collaged postcards dating from 19491984, which Kelly has released for publication for the first time. By means of these recollections he discusses his artistic credo and development of an artistic manifesto. He talks about his interest in architecture, about the painters who influenced him and his proposal for the Ground Zero site. It is the positive spirit of this great maverick of art that makes this small book a huge literary journey.

FIRSTSITE. NEW ARCHITECTURE...
DOSTĘPNOŚĆ: NA ZAMÓWIENIE Vinoly has designed a lightweight steel-framed column-free building with a wrap-around roof that also forms the walls. The structure floats on a concrete raft foundation over Roman ruins. The building's walls follow the landscape along a curving stretch of trees. At the entrance, huge windows invite the outdoors in and a massive canopy creates the illusion that the building entrance vaults unsupported overhead. Following a narrative beginning with the client's first wild idea and ending when the architect hands over the keys on opening day, this book features an eye-catching design that matches the drama of the building and includes personal contributions from the Uruguayan-born architect, as well as hundreds of sketches, plans and photographs.
