The Pritzker Prize is the most prestigious international prize for architecture. Awarded annually to a living architect by an independent jury of experts, its purpose is ‘to honour a living architect whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision and commitment, which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture.’ Architect is the first book to document what the Pritzker Prize laureates have said and written about their field, with a selection of their major built works, seen in more than 700 images.

Jest to wydanie drugie, zmienione i poprawione uznanego już podręcznika o tym samym tytule. Przedstawia szkoły naukowe, mistrzów i kontynuatorów, poczynając od klasycznej ekologii chicagowskiej. Ukazuje historyczne etapy rozwoju miast starożytnych i średniowiecznych, aglomeracje epoki industrialnej, miasto "socjalistyczne" i ponowoczesne metropolie. Przedstawiono także rys historyczny rozwoju istniejącej tu architektury, ilustrowany przykładami najcenniejszych zabytków powstałych od okresu romańskiego do czasów współczesnych.
Rzetelnie zanalizowano sposoby napraw i wzmocnień tych konstrukcji". Kompleksowo przedstawiono kwestie dotyczącą remontów konstrukcji murowych.
Kompendium wiedzy o coraz powszechniej stosowanych w Polsce ekologicznych systemach hydrofitowych. Autorki przedstawiły charakterystykę metody hydrofitowej, która jest procesem biologicznym zachodzącym z udziałem mikroorganizmów heterotroficznych oraz roślin wodnych i wodolubnych (trzcin lub wikliny), egzystujących w odpowiednio zaprojektowanych obiektach – filtrach gruntowych lub stawach.
Publikacja obejmuje zakres bezpieczeństwa technicznego jednego z działów energetyki, tzn. energetyki gazowej, a szerzej gazownictwa. Omówione zostały własności toksyczne oraz wybuchowe paliw gazowych stosowanych w gospodarce komunalnej i przemysłowej. Opisano zagrożenia związane z budową oraz eksploatacją sieci i instalacji gazowych oraz metody zapobiegania ich powstawaniu.
